How Long Does CBD Take To Work?

How Long Does A CBD Food Supplement Take To Kick In?

A very short answer to this is something my mother used to say: ‘How long is a piece of string?’

Sorry for being rather unhelpful, but it is true. The fact is, each of our body’s Endocannabinoid Systems works differently and therefore it depends on person to person. For some people, they may notice something immediately, for others, it may properly start to kick in within hours, days or weeks.

While we can’t determine when, how or what CBD is going to do, there are a couple of ‘best practices’ which can ensure that you are using CBD in the most effective way possible. A lot of it is about trial and error, listening to what your body tells you and understanding that CBD may need time to build up in your system.

Start Low and Low

The advise we always give is to start low and slow. If you drink a whole bottle at once, you’re not going to feel particularly well and you aren’t going to do yourself any good (please don’t try it!). Starting with a CBD oil/ or Paste with a low concentration (& dose) means that your body gets used to the compounds, and prepares itself to use the compounds effectively. It will take time for your body to work out what and how to use the cannabinoids. If you flood your body with a strange new thing, it will go into full panic mode.

By starting low, your body tips its toe in the water and thinks… oooh, this is nice… then will become used to accepting higher doses and can use the compounds where it needs them. As you start to increase the dose, it is important that you take note of how you are feeling; are you sleeping differently?

How Do You Feel?

Listening to your body is the most important thing you can do for your well being. Just like when you feel hungry, your body is telling you that you need fuel. When starting with your low dose of CBD, it is not unusual to feel nothing at all… that is because CBD doesn’t really feel like anything. Usually, it is very subtle things that start to happen, and those are the important ones.

If you’re feeling something, but not enough, you should increase. By trial and error you can work this out, you will work out what your body needs, and the best way to take the CBD supplements.

Another pro tip is to try our different products – for instance, your body may react differently to a CBD paste, Full-spectrum oil or even a vape oil!
